Welcome to the online dispute resolution training platform offering Pepperdine’s hybrid dispute resolution training program for LAPD and student mediator completion program. This collaboration extends a special recognition of gratitude to JAMS for its generous sponsorship to make this training possible.

LAPD Dispute Resoltuion:
This interactive four-day course was jointly envisioned by the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, and the Los Angeles Police Department to address the particular needs of LAPD personnel. The curriculum was designed mindful of the law enforcement workplace including the unique environment and harms, the vertical communication patterns of sworn personnel, the increasingly intergenerational workforce, and the dynamic nature of police work. The skills that will be developed include early identification, prevention, de-escalation, and resolution of conflict.

Student Completion:
Our Basic Mediation Training module covers the fundamentals of mediation and alternative dispute resolution and will equip trainees with the skills to become a mediator, conciliator, and facilitator. Our programs are in compliance with the California Dispute Resolution Program Act (DRPA) and are the first step toward becoming a certified mediator.
